Summary: Sometimes pretending that some thing is real can help you prioritize what you want out of life and focus on the things you need to do to get there.
Day13 exercise: Write Your Dream Into Reality
Pretend your writing dream has already come true. Imagine your life is already exactly as you want it to be. What does it look like? What does it feel like? Where are you? What are you doing? Get as detailed as possible. Use the space below (or a journal) to write about your dream life as if it’s already your real life. Repeat as often as possible. A couple things before you go for it… 1) Write and play in the details, but don’t get attached to the specifics. 2) You can do this exercise for your overall dream as well as for your life for the next 30-90 days.
Its Friday morning, just got out of the shower after my 2 mile morning walk and am sitting down with a cup of coffee. The kids are still sleeping as its early morning and I’ve just made a fresh brew of coffee to start off the writing day.
Which I start by sitting on the patio in the back yard my husband and I just put together with my laptop pulling up the first draft of my 4th book to go over the last chapter I wrote and start typing out the next chapter. After a 30 min I check twitter for a small break. Reading all the news and updates. Some people are excited for the new book I announced in my newsletter and I’m ecstatic that their excited.
At lunch I turn off the laptop and pop inside to turn on my favorite TV show and make a simple lunch for me and the kids then spend the next hour watching television as I relax for the afternoon.
Afterwards, I go to my computer to flip through a few emails. One is a review of a past book and the other is an acceptance for a short story that I submitted a couple of months ago. For the afternoon, I focus on my blog for the next YT video and check the comments on my current upload. In the evening I flip the switch and edit my new upload for my gaming yt channel while watching fellow streamers and make graphics on canva for upcoming uploads on instagram. Later I’ll jump on Twitch to stream the newest horror game and chat with some of my favorite people.
At night I’ll head to bed and read for 30 min before waking up to enjoy a Saturday off with my kids.
Blog note: Really every thing in this part is doable. I already partially do most of this except it’s not on a set schedule and I need to figure out a constant working flow that won’t burn me out and make me want to just stare at nothing for weeks at a time.
Not saying the exercise don’t work. It does. For years I dreamed of owning my own home with my husband and the more I focused on it, the harder I worked to reach that goal and now we do own our home. (Repair bills and all) and I couldn’t be happier.
